I try to stay off public groups on Facebook, mainly Thurman Happenings, because it seems to be nothing but a cesspool. However, I have recently seen they have started their slanderous attacks against Susan Shepler, who is running for Town Supervisor. I have met Susan a few times and have come to my own opinion of her, without the influence from anyone. I find her to be a very likable person, very well educated and a very honest and giving person. I think she did a very good job for the time she was a board member as well as Deputy Supervisor.
I am sick and tired of hearing that Susan Shepler did not step up for the town at a meeting at the beginning of this year. Let us clear a few things up here.
The administration we have now could care less about you or I the tax payer. They only care about making themselves look good and trying to make the past administration look bad. They pass resolutions but then still do whatever they want to do. I for one don’t believe a word that is coming from anyone of them.
I have also heard people say “Things must be better, Thurman isn’t in the papers anymore”. Well Duh!!! The troublemakers that were keeping us in the papers are now running the town! Of course, they get along, open your eyes people, the fox is now in the hen house and they like it there!
I am sick and tired of hearing that Susan Shepler did not step up for the town at a meeting at the beginning of this year. Let us clear a few things up here.
- The meeting was the very first meeting of the year, the Organizational Meeting. The Supervisor at the time was present and chaired the meeting. The supervisor adjourned the meeting at 6:50 pm. and left the meeting as did one other board member. There was no reason for Susan Shepler to step up and do anything as a Deputy Supervisor. The Supervisor was not unable to perform her duties, she had just done so and left. This is all documented in the official minutes of the town. The new town board members simple wanted to continue to act like babbling idiots and play big bad bosses. I applaud the previous Supervisor for adjourning and leaving, the new board was acting like a bunch of toddlers, it was an embarrassment.
- The very next meeting on January 10th, Cynthia Hyde and Mike Eddy made the motion to abolish the Deputy Supervisors position. They can’t have to both ways. They can’t claim Susan Shepler should have stepped up when they wanted her to in the very first meeting, then the very next one abolish her position. The motion to abolish the position was made in the middle of the meeting.
- Susan Shepler did step up and fulfill her obligations as Deputy Supervisor on January 20th, the day the Supervisor at the time resigned. Susan did what she needed to do. She was there to chair the meeting that night and the very first thing that this new board did was abolish the position. They had this planned from the very first day they took office, this was nothing new to them.
